My custom crocheted cup cozy...

A couple of years ago, I read Stormie Omartian's book, "The Power of a Praying Parent".  The main thing I got from it was that God answers our prayers but not always immediately.  It can be years later.  One of the things I frequently pray for is that He will keep my children safe, especially now that the four oldest have their driver's license.

Monday evening, my oldest son called me while I was at bowling.  "Mom, could you give me some advice?  No one was hurt, but I had an accident."  stunned  Words that a mother doesn't want to hear.  He was driving home from a friend's house in another city.  As he went up the on-ramp, the car went out of control and hit the curb.  He said he wasn't speeding.

The exit...it's a tight turn.

This is what we saw when we got there.

A better view.

The impact broke the wheel off the A-frame.

That doesn't look good.

Another view of the damage.

At home, with the wheel off.

A closer look.

My husband thinks it wasn't exactly my son's fault because he wasn't speeding.  It appears that the previous owner had damaged it but didn't repair it correctly.  whatevah   The parts were bolted on instead of being welded and ripped through the light-weight sheet metal.  There was no backing to support it.  My husband thinks that when my son went around the bend, the stress was too much and the patch-job gave way.    surprised

Fortunately, only the car was hurt.

Feelin' Crummy...

...so I made a cup of Triple Leaf's "Blood Pressure Tea".

Of course, a pretty teacup and a doily helps, too!  happy

Don't get old. :P

My latest companions....

To help with the muscle spasms in my upper back, I start with the heat pack to warm the muscles.  Then I have one of my kids use the bongers.  Next I use the tennis ball by placing the ball between my back and a wall and rubbing/pressing the stubborn areas.  Next I do stretches from Bob Anderson's book.  And I finish by applying the ice pack on my spine to help relieve the inflammation.  The golf ball is for massaging the arch of my foot to relieve plantar fasciitis.

Other than medication, any other suggestions?

This sweet gentleman is Patrick, from Las Vegas, who comes to L-town every year to visit his daughter and sell flags in front of our local post office.  He's quite a character!  I enjoy stopping by to buy a flag and listening to his stories about his service in the Navy.  He's one of the few men who served our country and really understands what our flag stands for...

FREEDOM!

Have a Happy Fourth of July!
